When this format helps
- You have several proposed service budgets and want a saved comparison rather than one browser calculation.
- A full-copy backup operation needs room for retained copies, a new candidate and a restore workspace at the same time.
- Your archive and restore workspaces use different volumes, so spare space on one cannot make the other fit.
Use your own observations or explicit assumptions for every input.
What the candidate produces
A self-contained HTML report, a JSON result and a spreadsheet-friendly CSV, from one local JSON input file. Version 0.1.0 uses Python 3.10 or newer and the standard library; it needs a terminal, but no account or network connection. Reports are generated into a new directory; existing output paths are refused.
The sample contains five constructed scenarios and six result rows. It demonstrates a fitting allowance, a deficit, an unknown input, and two storage-volume cases. These numbers are hypothetical MiB values, not measurements from a server or the Lab’s retention experiment.

Read an allowance as an allowance
Memory remainder = total − existing workloads − headroom − proposed service allowances. Do not count an existing service twice. Storage peak = existing copies + candidate + restore workspace + reserve. A hypothetical reclaim applies only after the required validation and cannot exceed the existing copies.
Positive arithmetic does not prove capacity. The tool does not connect to your host, measure RAM, deploy services, delete files, run backups, validate restores or test performance. It does not model compression, deduplication or incremental backup formats. Review when copies coexist; quotas, filesystem overhead and unrelated growth need separate allowances.
Start with the underlying checks
- Measure memory pressure before choosing allowances
- Plan a full-copy backup’s peak space
- Validate the intended SQLite recovery point
Current limit: 100 scenarios, 40 proposed services per memory scenario, and 32 volumes per storage scenario. This is a review candidate, not a hosted service or a support contract. Price, sales, payment and file delivery have not been established.
