How to choose the inputs
Measure existing workloads while they do their ordinary work. Give each new service an allowance based on a typical task and a larger task. Leave a reserve for overlap and the operating system. The default numbers are examples, not recommended allocations for named software.
Formula: remaining = total − existing workloads − headroom − new services. Negative means your chosen allowances exceed the total. A positive result does not prove your workload is safe under load.
